Scooter is Missing - NEED YOUR HELP NOW - Update 1/29

Our mascot - Scooter the elephant is missing from the store and is presumed "elephant-napped" by some young child attending a party or class.

Please help us find him. Scooter is a plush grey elephant weighing about 1.5 pounds with long floppy ears, an upturned trunk and a short tail - age unknown.

Scooter was last seen hanging out inside his cubby.

Scooter had been our store mascot for over three years and is very important to store morale. Counseling has been made available during this troubling time for any store employee who requires it.

So far we have not received any ransom demand.

We are asking the parents of any recent party at the store to ask the parent of any child that was there watching if they have Scooter, and to please return him to those who love him. An attempt is being made to contact those families.

UPDATE 1/29/10

Since our announcement that Scooter has gone missing the support for his return has been overwhelming. Our students and friends all over the country have been on the lookout. I have received reports of a "floppy ear" sighting in the back window of a car near Lake of the Ozarks, and another along the interstate highway in Kansas; but nothing has been confirmed. A friend now living in the San Fransisco Bay area who knew Scooter well from shooting at our range while attending law school in Boston, has emailed me that he will be on the lookout for us in northern California. Meanwhile, back here, I get asked every week if Scooter is coming back. It hurts - I can only have faith for a safe return.
